Crypto Liquidation Statistics

Measured live · 10 exchanges · Free JSON API

This page tracks how much leveraged crypto is actually being wiped out, right now. The 24-hour totals, the long/short split and the biggest individual hits below are measurements, not estimates — streamed from the public liquidation feeds of 10 exchanges (Binance, Bybit, OKX, Hyperliquid, Gate, HTX, dYdX, BitMEX, Deribit, Bitfinex) and aggregated per coin. Every figure carries its own timestamp.

LIVE LIQUIDATIONS DATA · UPDATED 19:48 UTC

Crypto futures liquidations total $171.8 million over the past 24 hours: $132.8 million from longs and $39.0 million from shorts across 791 tracked coins. Most liquidated right now: BTC ($43.9 million), ETH ($30.5 million), XRP ($12.1 million). Longs are taking most of the damage — the market is moving down through their liquidation levels.

How to read these numbers

Long liquidations dominate on down-moves — leveraged buyers are forced to sell, which accelerates the drop. Short liquidations dominate on squeezes — forced buying fuels the rally. A lopsided daily split therefore tells you which side of the market just paid for the move. Calm days across all futures markets wipe out tens of millions of dollars; crash or squeeze days can exceed a billion. The liquidation map shows where the remaining leverage sits, and the Rekt feed streams every hit as it lands.

Methodology

MarginPad runs its own collector that subscribes to the public liquidation websockets of the 10 exchanges listed above, normalizes each event (symbol, side, price, notional, timestamp) and archives every day. Per-coin 24-hour totals are aggregated from Coinglass across 799+ tracked coins. No modelled or extrapolated values appear on this page — where data is missing, nothing is shown.

The same data is served as JSON by the MarginPad free crypto API: /api/v1/liquidations/recent (price-level buckets per coin), /api/v1/liquidations/live (latest individual events) and /api/v1/clusters (estimated forward clusters, labelled as estimates). CORS-enabled, 60 requests/minute, no signup.

FAQ

How much crypto is liquidated every day?

It varies enormously with volatility: calm days wipe out tens of millions of dollars across all futures markets, while crash or squeeze days can exceed a billion. The live 24-hour total measured right now is shown at the top of this page and updates continuously.

What does a liquidation mean in crypto futures?

A liquidation is the forced closure of a leveraged position after its margin can no longer cover the loss. The exchange closes the position at market, which adds sell pressure (for longs) or buy pressure (for shorts) and can cascade into further liquidations.

Why are most liquidations longs?

On most days the majority of open leverage is long, so down-moves liquidate more volume than up-moves. When shorts dominate the daily total instead, it usually means a short squeeze is running.

Where does this liquidation data come from?

Two measured sources: MarginPad’s own collector streams individual liquidation events live from the public websockets of 10 exchanges (Binance, Bybit, OKX, Hyperliquid, Gate, HTX, dYdX, BitMEX, Deribit, Bitfinex), and per-coin 24-hour totals are aggregated from Coinglass. Every figure on this page is a measurement with a timestamp, not an estimate.

Is there a free API for liquidation data?

Yes. MarginPad’s free keyless API serves the same data as JSON: /api/v1/liquidations/recent (price-level buckets), /api/v1/liquidations/live (latest individual events) and /api/v1/clusters. CORS-enabled, 60 requests/minute, no signup.
