On 22 September 2026, an attacker exploited a malicious governance proposal on the Neutron chain, draining liquidity and moving ~1.73 million ATOM to the Cosmos Hub. Validators halted the network for about 24.5 hours, deployed a patched upgrade (Gaia v28.3.0), and secured 1,227,121 ATOM into a 4-of-6 multisig wallet controlled by community validators. Approximately 500,000 ATOM swapped to ETH before the halt is unrecoverable. The Cosmos Hub itself was not compromised......................................
